Partner opportunities for small-practice principals and finance brokers.

Join a multi-service advisory group as a partner with genuine skin in the game. For experienced accountants, lawyers and finance brokers who have built a practice and are ready for the next phase — with the backing of an integrated firm and the continuity a sole practice cannot offer.

Partner Opportunities

A pathway to partnership for principals of small accounting, legal and finance broking practices.

Why join a multi-service group.

Many of the best advisors in Australia are principals of small practices — accountants, lawyers and finance brokers who built their businesses on technical expertise and client relationships. These practices generate strong recurring revenue but they also face structural challenges the principal rarely gets time to address: succession risk, key-person concentration, limited cross-referral capability, technology cost, PI insurance exposure, and the hard ceiling that comes from trying to do everything yourself.

Corson Fiske exists partly to solve that problem. We invite principals of small accounting, legal and finance broking practices to join our partnership as partners — contributing their practice, their relationships and their expertise in exchange for equity, the backing of an integrated multi-service firm, and the support network that comes with it.

This is not a roll-up model. We are not buying practices to consolidate and strip them. We are looking for principals who want to keep doing the work they are good at — but do it inside a firm that multiplies the value of their existing relationships, protects them from single-practice risk, and gives them genuine ownership of the platform they help build.

The benefits of joining a multi-service group

A sole-practice accountant, lawyer or finance broker can only service the client questions that sit within their own discipline. Every other question has to be referred out — often to a competitor, sometimes to a firm the client never comes back from. Joining a multi-service group removes that leakage and turns it into revenue for the principal and their clients.

  • Cross-referral economics. A legal client needs tax advice. A tax client needs a restructuring review. A finance broker’s client needs a CFO advisory engagement. Inside an integrated firm, every one of these referrals stays inside the group — and the introducing partner shares in the revenue.
  • Institutional client support. Professional indemnity, technology infrastructure, practice management, compliance and continuing education are all centralised — freeing the principal to focus on client work rather than running a business.
  • Succession and continuity. Sole practitioners face a difficult succession problem — most practices are worth significantly less to an external buyer than they were to the principal while running them. Joining a multi-service firm converts the practice into equity in a larger, saleable business with genuine goodwill beyond the individual.
  • Brand and credibility. Corson Fiske’s positioning, marketing, thought leadership and client-facing materials lift the profile of every partner inside the firm — including those who join from smaller practices.
  • Technical depth across disciplines. When a complex matter crosses into tax, legal, restructuring or corporate finance, partners have immediate access to specialist colleagues rather than having to refer out or decline the work.
  • Risk diversification. A sole practice carries concentrated key-person risk. A multi-partner firm spreads that risk and gives each partner the ability to take holidays, turn down work, or step back temporarily without the practice collapsing.

Skin in the game — what partnership actually means

Most advisory firms talk about partnership. Many of them mean something closer to senior employment — a partner title, a profit share, but no real ownership and no real accountability for the firm’s direction. Corson Fiske operates on a different model. Partners are genuine owners with skin in the game — contributing capital, sharing in profits, bearing downside risk and holding governance rights that actually matter.

For principals joining from smaller practices, this means three things in practice:

  • Real equity ownership. Partners contribute capital, take ownership stakes and share in the growing value of the firm. The goal is that each partner’s equity is worth more in five years than the day they joined.
  • Profit sharing aligned to contribution. Profit share reflects both ownership and individual contribution — so partners who generate the most value for the firm share in the rewards of that contribution, while also benefiting from the growth of the firm as a whole.
  • Voice in how the firm is run. Partnership at Corson Fiske carries genuine governance rights — input into strategy, hiring, service-line decisions, new office openings and the overall direction of the firm. Partners are not employees with a better compensation plan.

We believe this alignment matters. Partners who have skin in the game make better long-term decisions than partners who are effectively employees. And clients benefit when the person advising them has personally invested in the firm recommending the advice.

Who we are looking for

We are actively speaking with principals of the following types of practices:

  • Small and boutique accounting practices. Principals with established client bases in business services, tax compliance, SMSF, CFO advisory or specialist areas who want to integrate into a multi-service firm without losing the identity of their practice.
  • Small and boutique legal practices. Commercial lawyers, property lawyers, disputes lawyers and specialist practitioners who are running their own firms and looking for the institutional support and cross-referral benefits of a larger platform.
  • Finance and mortgage brokers. Experienced commercial and residential brokers with strong lender relationships and recurring trail income who want to join a firm where their broking work generates complementary tax, legal and advisory engagements.
  • Advisory and consulting boutiques. Specialist consultants in strategy, operations, HR or digital who want to join an integrated firm where their work is part of a broader client engagement rather than a standalone project.

How the process works

Partnership conversations are confidential and typically take place over several months. We do not rush these decisions — on either side. A typical pathway looks like this:

Phase One

Initial Conversation

A confidential meeting to understand the principal’s practice, client base, growth ambitions and reasons for considering a move. No commitment, no obligation.

Phase Two

Commercial Review

Mutual review of the practice’s financials, client concentration, regulatory standing and cultural fit — alongside the principal’s review of Corson Fiske’s position, partnership structure and growth plans.

Phase Three

Partnership Terms

Negotiation of equity contribution, profit share, transition arrangements, employment terms for staff and any rebranding or client migration steps.

Phase Four

Integration

A structured transition over 6 to 12 months bringing the practice, its clients and its team into the Corson Fiske platform — with partner-level support throughout.

The firm small-practice principals actually want to join.

We are deliberately building the firm we would have wanted to join when we were running smaller practices. That means partner-led governance, genuine equity, integrated cross-referral economics, institutional support for the parts of practice management that nobody enjoys doing, and the brand platform that turns individual principals into partners of a firm with national profile.

Partnership conversations are strictly confidential and are led personally by James Leslie-Watt. If you are principal of a small accounting, legal or finance broking practice considering a move, we would welcome a confidential conversation.
